The name Skillicorn comes from the Old Norse words skali (a temporary shelter) and horn (a curve of land forming safe harbor). This is that kind of place — a space to rest, reconnect, and rebuild, before setting sail again with deeper confidence, resilience, and vision for what’s possible.
Life has become increasingly fast-paced, pulling us in countless directions with ceaseless distractions. In the rush to keep up, many of us have become disconnected from ourselves and our purpose, leaving us burned out, overwhelmed, and uncertain about how to find our way back to balance,

What is Wellness & Resilience Coaching?
To understand what this work involves, we must first define wellness and resilience — the two interwoven foundations of this coaching practice.
Wellness
Wellness is not the absence of distress or dis-ease.
It is the active process of awareness through which we make intentional choices that enhance our physical, emotional, cognitive, social, environmental, occupational, and spiritual wellbeing.
Wellness is not a fixed state; it is a continual invitation to intentionally cultivate habits and mindsets that support energy, clarity, and joy.
Resilience
Resilience is a vital component of wellness — the ability to ride life’s waves with awareness, flexibility, curiosity, coherence, and compassion.
It’s what allows us to meet life’s difficulties not as dangers to avoid, but as invitations to grow. Resilience is not something we’re born with; it’s a skill that can be developed and strengthened over time.
Like a tree, resilience flourishes when we are both deeply rooted and able to sway freely with the winds of change.
When life’s storms arise, a tree grounded in fertile soil may bend, but it does not break. When the storm passes, it returns to stillness — its roots deeper, its trunk stronger, and its branches more flexible than before.
My Approach
Once we understand what wellness and resilience truly mean, the next step is learning how to cultivate them in daily life.

As both a holistic psychiatrist and a coach, my work bridges neuroscience, mindfulness, and embodiment — blending research-based methods with deep presence and compassion to address the whole person: physical, emotional, cognitive, environmental, social, and spiritual.
​
In my psychiatric practice, the focus is on applying many of these same tools within a clinical framework. This includes addressing symptoms, identifying and healing emotional and physiological imbalances, working through past trauma, and, when appropriate, helping individuals safely taper or manage medications.
In my coaching work, the emphasis shifts to growth and transformation — supporting individuals who are ready to expand beyond symptom management into self-discovery, nervous system regulation, alignment, and opening doors to new possibilities.

While the approaches differ, the foundation is the same: honoring the whole person — body, mind, heart, and spirit — and guiding you to reconnect with your innate capacity to heal, grow, and thrive.​

PHYSICAL WELLNESS
The body is the foundation of resilience.
Together, we explore the rhythms that shape your vitality and wellbeing — movement, nutrition, sleep, and time in nature — so your nervous system can function optimally: regulated, responsive, and adaptable.

COGNITIVE CLARITY
Our thoughts shape how we experience the world.
Much of our suffering comes from the stories we tell ourselves. Reframing unhelpful neurocognitive patterns and shifting from a threat mindset (“something is wrong”) to a challenge mindset (“this is an opportunity to grow”) is essential to resilience.
As your focus sharpens and your inner dialogue softens, you’ll find yourself thinking more clearly, making aligned decisions, and responding to life rather than reacting to it.


EMOTIONAL REGULATION
Stress, anxiety, and overwhelm are part of being human, but they don't have to define you. Through mindfulness, breathwork, EFT, and other somatic and energy practices, you'll learn to pause, acknowledge emotions, and regulate reactivity. Instead of getting swept away by the waves of life, you'll learn to surf them — meeting yourself with curiosity and compassion.

True wellness includes a sense of direction and meaning. As your body and mind settle, clarity about your values, purpose, and authentic desires naturally emerges.

Modern life has disconnected us from ourselves, each other, and from the natural world. Healing and growth are amplified in connection. For this reason, the bulk of this practice is centered on group coaching, which offers a unique opportunity for healing and transformation through co-regulation and shared reflection. Realizing you’re not alone in your struggles or your growth is powerful medicine. ENVIRONMENTAL WELLNESS
We live in rapidly changing, precarious times where environmental shifts, climate concerns, and exposure to toxins have become part of daily life.
